| Mr. Ahmadinejad overplayed his hand. Had he stolen the election with a `51%` victory it would have been - just - credible. But no person who watched the elections can imagine his landslide happened. The Supreme Leader has endorsed Ahmadinejad`s amazing victory and in doing so has signed the death warrant of his Islamic Republic. IT might not happen right away, but the seeds of disbelief have finally been sown, and they land upon fertile soil. A year ago the Bush Junta would have saved Ahmadinejad by idiotic statements and actions. Obama has been far more subtle in his handling of the matter. No rabid statements or moronic opposition which would lend Ahmadinejad the excuse that America wanted him out. Rather statements of support for the right of Iranians to elect their government and hopes they had. . . |
