The 2009 Iranian Presidential election is a sham. Democracy in form but not in substance. All the breathless news reports about the "contest" between "hardliners" vs "reformists" are merely a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
The day will come, however, when Iranians will have a real choice. When there will no longer be an unelected, unaccountable Faqih or Council of Guardians with the power to veto candidates (471 out of 475 presidential candidates were vetoed this time round), to over-ride the Majlis and the democratic will of the people, to appoint and fire judges at will, to order the public lynchings of children, to trample upon human rights and to shred the rule of law.
Hang in there Iranians. Salvation is coming. In God`s good time. |
