| Why stop at de-militarized. How about a de-militarized, very poor and cut up by settlements Palestinian state. Look, if you guys want peace-and I believe that you do-just man up and cut the West Bank loose. The Palestinians will probably raise an army (like the Egyptians, Israel and everybody else has) but if you are at peace, it should not be a problem. As for the right of return. It would seem that if some Palestinian family can proove that it owned land in what is now Israel (like, they have a deed) prior to partition, were not compensated and it is now owned by Israelis, it only makes sense to compensate these guys. You will not get peace without justice-and soemtimes justice has to be in the eyes of all of the parties. Swiss banks tried to avoid paying moneys owed to the descendants of Holocaust victims. All it got them was a bad rep. Finally-they paid. You will find that if you pay the people that have legitimate grievances money you will marginalize the radicals-peace. |
