Here is a population that has been under the belligerent occupation of a militaristic neighbour for 42 years (and counting) and Shavit is stating (as if it were the most natural thing in the world) that if these people were to ever get their sovereign state then they must be reduced to being A Helpless Maiden.
Why, Shavit?
If it can`t defend itself then isn`t it just begging to be re-occupied by that militaristic neighbour?
After all, the Lebanese were kept all-but-demilitarized for decades because of Israeli pressure, and the result has been a semi-annual invasion of Lebanon by the IDF.
Which only stopped when Hezbollah took it upon itself to form a militia; a militia that is now capable of making Israel pause before launching the IDF up to the Litani One More Time.... |
