because simply the term jewish refers to an identity which has been perscuted for 2 millenia for one reason only ...for being jewish.
when the people of the earth will stop identifying themselves with other religions , or other national identifications , we could start to be called simply Israel.
i can even go futher and ask why do poeple insist on identifying themselves with nations names.

identification is mostly fictitious practise of the mind , in this case however a Jewish state is mostly a jewish statement as a response to history. |
