| Some people think that Obama has little chance to effect change in a well entrenched Israeli government with decades of experience at expanding settlements and avoiding peace. Actually, Obamas job will be deceptively easy. His main thrust is to voice support for Israel while calling for Israel to come into line with Americas long time stance on settlements and a two state solution. When Israel does not comply, Obama will shed a tear and regretfully proceed to review all American support of Israel. This will cause the old fogies in the Israeli government to suddenly remember that they never liked settlement expansion and they have always favored a two state solution. All this problem ever needed was an honest man with determination and away we go. Sadly, we had to wait decades to find that man. |
