You`ve just linguistically deconstructed the State of Israel!

Why not simply apply for U.S. statehood and put aside Herzl`s dream of a home for the Jewish people completely?

The WHOLE POINT in having a JEWISH State is to have some place on this planet where JEWS can call home. Once you remove the "Jewish" part of Israel, the word Israel does become, as you have implied, nothing more than a word equivalent to "France", "Germany" or "England".

If "Israel", as you start your article implying, only meant "Jews", then you would exclude all those who were not Jews from ever being Israeli citizens! That`s WORSE than what you`re suggesting.

If we simply turn Israel into a democratic state, then there are no guarantees that it will remain a JEWISH HOMELAND.

Anyone who is ignorant enough to believe that no such place is needed anymore should be reminded that during operation Cast Lead, there were plenty of people in Europe shouting, "Back To The Oven", in protest.
