Jewish people (whether religious or not) were persecuted not only for their beliefs but also for just being Jewish. As such, a homeland for those people, a safe-haven in difficult times is known as the Jewish state. While some of the reasoning of A.B. IS correct, the term Israel by itself will soon be relegated to none more than a symbol of nationality.. like the French or English. Yet is it so much more.
Heck, I`m a Jew from Belgium (not an Israeli) but have the right to make Aliyah under the law of `Jewish` return... this wouldn`t be possible otherwise |
