| Israel has no valid argument for its continued building of settlements in the occupied territories, there presence is detrimental to peace and is clearly an attempt to create what Israel calls "facts on the ground" in an attempt to lay claim to land that under international laws is not part of Israel. President Obama`s goal of making final status a focal point in achieving peace is a monumental change in US policy and paramount in putting an end to the obstacle to peace that the settlements represent. Israel faces an impossilbe task of arguing that transferring parts of its own civilian population into areas that it holds under belligerent occupation provides security, so it will be interesting to hear how Netanyahu will try to justify there existence in his speech on Sunday. |
