| `One can only imagine what would be caught on film in an American college town under these circumstances. ` Indeed. The more cynical of us wouldn`t be at all surprised or shocked by what was `caught.` The problem here is the gulf between the self-image American Jews have of themselves and what they really are. Which is to say, not noticeably more intelligent, tolerant, or enlightened than the rest of us. Like it or not. Well, that would be okay. The problem is that when one establishes a whole nation that has come to rely largely on the fuel provided by such otherwise unexpressed sentiments, well, the outcome isn`t pretty. As we`ve seen.
