There have never been many Jews and they have often been in a weak position. They survived because they were smart as well as strong. For Israel to continue to survive, Jews at home and in the Diaspora need to continue to be smart as well as strong.
Unfortunately, this has not gone so well recently, and not only drunk teenagers are responsible. Bluffing is one thing, bombast, arrogance and stupidity are another.
Dov Weissglas has just made a public reference to supposed secret verbal agreements between Israel and George W Bush, only to be publicly contradicted by Hilary Clinton. She may have fond memories of the discussions between her husband and Bibi.
People like Dov should take the chance to keep their mouths shut as Israel attempts to negotiate with the Obama administration. By all means lobby Rahm Emanuel in private, but do not go public as this is not the Obama style.
