Of course Gideon Levy is right. He is almost always right. But he got one thing wrong here. It doesn`t matter if the settlers would have contributed some kind of creative artistery to Israel, they would still have been criminals.
It wouldn`t have excused anything if they would have written plays and books.
One has to keep things separated. The settlers are violent law breakers. Even if they would have been wonderful artists, facts would still be facts. A crime is a crime is a crime.
I don`t understand Levy`s reasoning. Would the settlers been more accepted in his eyes if they would have contributed culturally to Israel? |
