| Actually, the 9/11 era ended in November 2006, or perhaps it hasn`t ended at all. The thrashing given the republican party by Americans in November 2006 caused Dumbya Bush to fire Rummydummy and let the Army start getting us out of Iraq. But then Dick Cheney is out of his bunker and on the talk shows giving mouth-to-mouth to the 9/11 era. So perhaps it isn`t over. Still, for the mideast there can be no question that the 9/11 era is over. For many it ended when the US invaded Iraq and destroyed the consensus that it should be supported in it`s struggle against Al Queada. For all practical purposes it ended when Obama replaced the Bush boy. The Cairo speech announced the premises which would underlie the American approach to dealing with the regions problems. And the were quite different from the previous "you must all grovel, and we will rule by military might." |
