| As a committed lifelong Zionist and citizen of both the US and Israel, this is the one issue that I find most disturbing in Israel. While recognizing the desire to maintain the very nature of the Jewish State we all must stop pretending Israeli Arabs don`t exist or are lesser Israelis because they are Arabs. This is but one example of racism that lives behind the mask of a so-called liberal community. My own kibbutz from the Shomer Hatsair movement no less denied an Arab family`s application for membership and he was the kibbutz dentist! If we want coexistence and democracy for Israel then this must stop. And by the way, try integrating the schools while we`re at it. That might help the next generation to overcome the sins of ours. |
