The Israeli political score is:

Peace Now 1%
Peace Never 99%

Obama might think the moment is `now` but the mood where it counts is `never`.

The reality is the same one which has existed for decades.

Even Rabin found after Oslo that he was powerless to slow, much less stop the settlements. Indeed, after Oslo the Israeli right caused a drastic increase in settlement activity.

Eventually the bothersome Rabin was disposed of by a man who is a hero to the Israeli right, Yigal Amir.

Netanyahu would bring on the end of his political career, and probably his life, were he to move towards peace.

The Settlers, and their political allies, and the future Baruch Goldsteins and Yigal Amirs would see to that.

Most Israelis are not criminals. But they continue to allow criminals to control the fate of their nation.
