| Halting all settlement growth including natural growth is the only way to put a time clock on Israel to push them to the negotiating table. By making it harder and harder each year for growing families to live in the same houses, it will push Israel to finally negotiate a set of borders. If Israel negotiates borders quickly, then the ban on construction for natural growth will be no hardship at all to the settlers. If Israel thinks they can avoid negotiating a border for another 5 generations, the pressure in the settlements will become quite intense. Clearly the only reason Bibi would have a problem with a halt in construction for natural growth would be if he never intends to close a deal on a border agreement with the PA. Otherwise, if Bibi had plans to negotiate a border in the short-term, he would have no reason to so loudly object to the construction ban. Bibi is exposing his plans to NOT live up to the agreements Israel signed. |
