| In 1949, the Arabs refused to recognize borders for Israel, and only accepted a temporary "truce line" (because they still hoped to destroy Israel). Then they continued to attack Israel and wage wars against it. Then they sent suicide bombers. Still mostly refused to recognize it or accept peace. So why should Israel abdicate all negotiation leverage and define its own borders according to the most limited terms, after the Arabs have continued to be belligerent and rejectionist? Sounds like Syrian logic: give us everything we want as a precondition to negotiations, and then maybe we`ll agree to negotiate! |
