Bradley Burston: GM as parable, and Israel's sudden choice: Obama or Kahane
Talkback
Title:One- sided Bradley very partially right
Name:Shalom Freedman
City: JerusalemState: Israel
This is a one- sided harangue.Burston is right to condemn hooliganism. He is right to say it is a disgrace to all of us when hooliganism comes from Jews. But he is absolutely wrong to see the alternatives as Kahana or Obama. The fact is that it is wrong for Obama to insist on Jews not being able to provide for natural growth in Maale Adumim, and Efrat. These are areas which will be part of Israel in any future peace settlement. Obama is also wrong to let the always deceitful Palestinians off the hook, wrong to suppose they are ready for peace. They are not. Abbas, His Weakness, does not speak for the great majority of the people he supposedly represents. And he too is not ready for recognition of Israel, yes, as a Jewish state. He is for a deal which will enable the Arabs to undermine Israel in less than a generation.
Burston does say some true harsh things about a small minority of the Jews of Israel. But he is wrong in faulting our present Government policy.
