When thousands of Palestinians are shuttled through checkpoints daily, prevented from traveling freely in their own land, subjected to constant checks and regulations including how much water they may take to work each day, while settlers are protected by soldiers and never arrested for their harassment of Palestinians, the myth that settlers are there to protect us is quite laughable.
The dangerous mentality of thinking that civilians are protecting the country, and the widespread settler violence done in the name of that mentality serve only to endanger Israel`s se;curity. The manpower and effort that is exerted by the IDF in protecting settlers who then claim they are protecting us, together with the manpower wasted at dozens of checkpoints that are NOT BORDER CROSSINGS but roadblocks within Palestinian territory, is staggering. The myth held by settlers that they are protecting Israel is a self serving fallacy that does not justify their presence on land that is not ours. |
