I am glad to see Lieberman`s noxious bill defeated.
I cannot imagine it being entertained in Israel back in the 1950s or 1960s when the nation really was threatened with destruction.
I hope this indicates that things are starting to turn back from the lurch to the radical right that Israel has been seeing for the last few decades.
Yisrael Bitinu`s smarmy arguments for this bill show that they themselves felt it necessary to deny it`s fundamentally and deliberate racist nature.
The rejection by a Likud led government shows that the efforts to wrap racism in the flag failed. |
