the taking of lives, are perhaps the most serious of crimes where individuals are punished. A soldier`s license to kill is invalidated and he/she is treated like anyone else accused of crime. Or a civilian or military superior can be held responsible.
However, in any event, they involve proof beyond a reasonable doubt and a state of mind of no less than recklessness.
This article, to me, evidences too much bias, and too little facts, in a matter of such gravity. I would have preferred the story come right down the middle because, in the end, these deaths may just be what often happens in armed conflict, innocents die without criminal responsibility of individuals.
The article, however, pushes an interpretation that assumes guilt, and that is unfair in light of the actual law in this matter. |
