| That sentence at the end of your column is emblematic of the lack of understanding of the concept of sovereignty among many educated Israelis. Even little countries have such concept when they dare to challenge the big powers. Does anyone stop to reflect for a moment why the US is not DEMANDING anything from Jordan, for example? Or from Lebanon? Or Syria? No. The word DEMAND or the phrase "There is no alternative to (fill in the US demand)" does not appear in the current diplomatic or political language except when talking TO Israel. Only Israel allows itself to be treated with such disrespect. |
