| Why was Abbas unable to reach an agreement with Olmert? Because Abbas insisted--and still insists--on the so called "right of return." Abbas can wait all he wants, but he is unlikely ever to see an Israeli prime minister willing to accept the influx into Israel of millions of anti-Israeli Palestinians who were born in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, the West Bank, or Gaza. Abbas was a fool not to make a deal with Olmert while he could. |
