Both of the bills would fail Constitutional muster in the US, even with our current right wing Supreme Court. I doubt that even the Congress of 2003-2004 would have passed either bill. The Nabka bill is an assault on freedom of speech and in particular political speech. It gives the government the power to interpret speech, too. That`s dangerous. Imagine if Obama exercised all the powers Bush claimed and like Cheney and Bush, directed those powers against the political opposition.
The loyalty oath bill is McCarthyism at it height, with racial, religious, and ethnic overtones.
Which European countries require that Jews swear to uphold Christian values and the Christian nature of the country?
