Truth of the matter is that years after years of Arab propaganda overblowing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has mounded into a conventional mainstream discourse that says exactly what the Arabs wish: That the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the reason behind Islamist fundamentalism from Tehran to Waziristan, and from Damascus to Cairo. Of course that`s the ultimate cynicism. But Bush and Obama bought it. And Ross is saying it. Let`s hope Obama can still be saved from the symptoms of imperial hubris, and classical American naiveté. |
