The big settlements should remain Israeli. When and if a peace deal is ever reached, the land mass of these settlements should be swapped for free land held in Israel. A slight change in the border boundries, is a simple matter. A repeat of the Gaza Settlement withdrawel, would not be tolerated by those hundreds of thousands of Israeli citizens. One cannot even imagine Maaleh Adumim becoming a Palestinian City. Many years ago, this writer was against such settlements as Maaleh Adumim. However as the years pass, with the current and present danger of another war, doom and gloom, the total sense of confusion now reigning in Israel one cannot expect any government to make such a decision based on Palestinian expectations. All parties seem to agree to disagree. |
