Israeli deterence that has been effective has included this as a central concept. It has worked with Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.
It has also worked in us stopping the asymetrical warfare from the Philistines in Judea and Samaria; the "Intifada".
And because we haven`t done that- finishing the job, in Gaza and Lebanon, those 2 areas remain thorns in our eyes.
We have to make it clear that attacking us is the last thing they could possibly want.
That`s how peace is achieved and maintained with the Arabs; the only way. Unfortunately, they don`t understand the carrot; only the stick. We need to work within that system. |
