Haaretz Service: Israel moves closer to banning mourning of its independence

Is it possible to mourn the existence of your country while demanding from that country that you enjoy the privileges of citizenship while failing to fulfill any of the obligations?

The so-called nakba is a situation brought about by the actions of the Arab states which attacked the nascent Israeli state in 1948. Those who did not run away or were repatriated when the fighting stopped are now Israeli citizens.

How many countries in the world would countenance its citizens protesting that its mere existence is a catastrophe? Can`t think of one. I think we all know what would happen to a citizen who tried it on in any of the Arab states.
