| First of all, the rumor of one of the candidates being Jewish pertains to Karrubi not ahmadi. Secondly, a LOT of Iranian names end in `ian` which in Farsi is synanymous with son, i.e. Peterson. Thirdly, Armenians have been present in Iran for centuries - dating back to 1500`s, the Safavids dynasty. I am intimately familiar with the Armenian-Iranian community and none of them is inclined to change their name for any reason whatsoever. Much like the Jews, they enjoy freedoms that the secular muslims aren`t granted. For example, cunsuming alcohol isn`t banned for them (same with the Jews), they have their own schools if they choose to send their kids to (they can also send them to regular schools with muslim pop). They also have seats in the Parliament. All the above is true with the Jewish community. I mean dude (or dudette), there are a lot of things wrong with Iranian regime but let`s keep it real with the reality and not carve up unnecessary and divicive imaginary ones just because. |
