This is truly an empty gesture and Obama is smart enough to see through it, as we all are. Just last week we read of new apartments being built in Maskiot and of evictions of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.
It appears that Bibi is trying the old dance between raindrops strategy of pretending to do something significant in halting the settlement enterprise when in essence he is simply moving his cards from one pile to another.
We don`t need gestures, but an overall change in policy. The West Bank is not ours. All settlements there are illegal. They are all on Palestinian land.
If this is all Bibi can offer in his song and dance routine, I hope Obama rejects it utterly. |
