Haaretz Service: Edinburgh film festival refuses Israeli grant due to pressure by Ken Loach
Talkback
Title:Edinburgh is loosing tradition of free thought

This festival has been known for years as a genuine free market for ideas and personalities in up and coming film. Unfortunately, censorship can put a damper on such freedom. Boycotting Israeli, or any group`s, film is not called for, particularly if there is no reason to declare a project devoid of artistic merit. Why not create a new space for Palestinian film? Why does pro-Palestinian activism have to take such a destructive path? The good people of Edinburgh should take a more consistent stance on this issue if they want to expand their traditional role in the arts.
