Regardless of how it is presented, Israel has successfully held 3+ million people as hostages for over 60 years. It has constructed a "fence" or "wall" or "fence/wall" which carves out the juciest portions of the land, taking the kernel and leaving the Palestinians with the husk. Where this will end is anyones guess. The unfortunate situation with Netanyahu is that his ego is greater than his intelligence. Shimon Peres, who is closer to meeting his maker, realizes the futility of this position and wants to end it once and for all. The Iranians and the so-called "new" Iraqi governments will also have to start facing reality. Israel wil not go away. Both sides will have to sleep with one eye open for the rest of their days. Not too happy a situation, but a preferable alternative to all out destruction of the Middle East. |
