The Pope has an obligation to sound a moral voice against those nations that encourage war and abuse of peoples. Nations fitting that category include Iran, Israel, Sudan, Myanmar and North Korea. The list should then be expanded to include the nations that supply weapons used by those nations .... USA, Russia, France, Great Britain, Israel, etc.
Netanyahu is in no position to make demands on the Pope or any other moral authority. On the other hand, the Pope attempts to maintain a diplomatic approach by not specifically identifying each nation`s crimes. However I agree there is a need today for stronger leadership in the area of social justice. |
