Banning the observance of Nakba would be quite counter-productive and appear to be either affirmation of it`s significance, or an act of folly.
One cannot ban history.
The effects of the civil war of late 1947 and early 1948, as well as the subsequent War of Independence upon the Palestine`s` Jews was traumatic, for the Arabs it was disastrous.
The Jews came out of it with a nation. The Arabs emerged in camps.
The lives of both are still dominated by the consequences of that horrible year. |
