| Leftist Haaretz, even as semi-official mouthpiece of Labor and Meretz, needs to get its basic facts straight. No Arabs lost their homes as a result of the establishment of Israel on May 15th, or the events leading up to the revocation of the Brit Mandate. They lost homes as a result of subsequently rejecting UN Partition and launching a failed war against the Jews of colonial Palestine to deprive them of the Jewish State the UN wanted next to an Arab State. "Nakba Day" does not protest house losses, it protests the "Nakba" (disaster) of Israel`s creation on May 15th, when there were NO Arab refugees. Nakba Day should be outlawed as the racist hate crime that it is, not only in Israel, but here in the US, celebrated by local Arabs not on May 15th, but on April 29th, the recent Hebrew calendar date of Israeli independence, proving that the "disaster" to them is Israel, not some "refugee" issue. "Nakba Day" is exactly like the KuKluxKlan burning crosses on Martin Luther King`s birthday. |
