Even Israel?s President is bound to states laws
Our President Shimon Peres seems to act far beyond Israel?s law and his non executive position which has the following executive or semi executive function namely he acts as counter signature to laws, he nominates new Prime Ministers candidates, his privilege is the act of grace and he receives Foreign Ambassador officially as well as he signs the appointment of Israelis diplomatic nominees.
His function is a completely representative one with the goal to show / confirm the State of Israel unity and law. We witness during weeks / months how President Shimon Peres becomes officially, practically involved in Israel?s foreign relation, nearly as an ??rowing ambassador?? he confers with foreign Presidents, Ministers etc. He tries to promote his political ideas including i.a. a suggestion to handover to the Vatican major Christian Holy Places which are situated deep in Israel?s territory, as reported and never denied by himself or his office. Now we have the media report of ??President Shimon Peres and his entourage?? use / flew in American businessman Daniel Abraham private plane on the route New York City Washington DC ??on official business representing Israel at AIPAC annual conference?? it was reported that Avi Gil accompanied him as ??his external advisers on ME issues who services he provides for free...? Avi Gil is a former Israel Foreign ministry Director General and now is Mr. Abraham?s representatives in Israel and a senior fellow in a research institute funded by Abraham for peace advance in the Middle East. Here definitely exist the necessity to intervene by state authorities on two levels, the question of conflict of interest by using officially Mr. Gil?s services even without any payment and secondly the basic law question of being actively involved in executive state foreign political measures. |
