who refuses to be "satisfied"... to begin with, HE owes no one an apology! the holocaust was NOT his doing; nor was it the doing of anyone other than THOSE who perpetuated it! it was a crime against all of humanity; not just against jews...lest we forget that an "almost" equal number perished who were NOT. that the jewish people were specifically singled out for complete extermination is the most hideous crime ever perpetuated in the history of mankind! but it provides no basis for any expectations of collective guilt from those NOT responsible, and especially not from those who were children or yet to be born. the circumstances of the times led many, all over the world, to withold public outcry...and yet many did NOT...including catholics and others in germany. but there`s no mention of that; is there? no mention of the catholics and others who perished as well, for their opposition to the nazis, for helping the jews, and as catholics, who were also being persecuted. and the pope? could he have raised his voice louder in public outrage over the atrocities taking place in germany? no doubt he could have; but at what cost to the catholics of europe? would his outrage have had any affect on the outcome for the jews? NO. for the catholics? almost certainly it would have led to the deaths of considerably more than the 3million+(low estimate), catholics/christians who WERE victims of the holocaust. it`s easy to condemn an act, or inaction, when it`s taken out of its historical context. but what of the zionists? have THEY "apologized" for THEIR failure to loudly denounce what was happening...and for actively working to curtail others from their denouncing of it? have they apologized for choosing to capitalize on its potential for bringing more immigrants to palestine and working to silence criticism of the nazis in the diaspora? of course not; because they continue even today to use the holocaust to israel`s advantage. ahhhh...but the pope, may God forgive him; he failed to say enough. |
