Does anyone seriously believe no one should be able to deny rape? Some flasely claim rape and some are falsely accused - these are proven facts. Yes, it is hurtful to true victims, but essential to justice to allow free debate.
Some would be tempted to punish rape deniers only after conviction, but over a dozen convicted rapists have been proven innocent by DNA testing in Texas. Who can be trusted to decide when something is so certain that it cannot be denied?
If this power had been used over the centuries, we would still believe the earth is flat and that the Sun revolves around the Earth. The right to think and speak freely is the most fundamental human right and one true advocates of human rights should alwasy be willing to fight for. |
