Dear Alaska:
Holocaust denial and other forms of anti-Semitism have no historical basis for their arguments. What they say goes beyond being hurtful. To say that 6,000,000 were not murdered by the Nazis is the lie, when there is so much historical evidence -- records of the Jews who were killed -- films and living witnesses to the events. My father`s family lost at least 50 members who didn`t escape from German. They ended up being gassed. I know it is inconceivable to believe that people can do the most horrible and barbaric acts against fellow human beings. However, the mass genocide of the Holocaust against Jews is one issue that must not be delegitimized by ignorance and prejudice. In at least 13 nations, denial of the Holocaust is a criminal act, punishable with jail time. I certainly hope the definition of hate crimes in the US will include Holocaust denial as a crime, because people who forget history are those who will repeat the same crimes again.
