| Holcaust denial is an active and dangerous form of prejudice that is the tip of an iceberg. Why? The better question is why is no other major historical event is so actively denied? Why only this one event, despite its billions of pages of Nazi documentation? Despite Germany`s acknowledgement of its own crimes? Imagine denying that America`s blacks were ever slaves? That Mohammed ever lived? What lies beneath this claim is a denial of Germany`s identity, human atrocity and another singling out of Jews. What lies beneath its surface is an active, attempted legitimized desire to rid the world of Jews, again. Read beyond the revisionism to the purpose it is used towards. All active prejudices that unjustly targets a people, demonises them and seeks their decimation is a crime against humanity. Only those countries who have already committed this crime have criminalised Holocaust denial. Others treat in the realm of hate-speech, racism or discrimination and address it accordingly. |
