Oslo failed. Miserably. What is it the Left thinks will happen if more pressure is put on Israel to withdraw from territories? Do they really think a two state peace will blossom? Pressure on Israel for pressure`s sake won`t resolve the conflict. Oslo failed for the same reasons and in the same ways that mandatory affirmative action and bussing didn`t solve the racial conflicts in the US. You can`t simply mandate change because a bunch of PhDs draw up a fool proof plan. If people can see that it was hubris for the US to try to instill democracy in Iraq, why can`t they see the same hubris in trying to instill democracy in a hypothetical state of Palestine?
I think what we see in articles like these and the "you said it, brother!" comments that follow are that the Israeli left is so obsessed with scoring blows against the Israeli right that they`ve lost the plot. |
