Egad! Someone actually sits around a laboratory and counts those things?! Such a person must have a great deal of patience (or very few outside interests) to count up to 106 million.
Sounds like a terribly odd kind of work ... and I can just imagine how uncomfortable it must be to solicit `samples` from people: `Excuse me, sir, but have you donated lately?` Imagine the confusion when the chap being approached suddenly realises there`s no Red Cross Bloodmobile in sight.
