| I know historical facts often times can undermine Israel-hatred, but maybe it is time to acknowledge some of them. For example, way back in 1948 - before the settlements and the occupation, there was the UN partition plan to divide what was left of the British Mandate of Palestine (70% was already given to the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan-closed off to Jews to this day) between Arab Palestinians and Jews (mostly desert). The Jews accepted, while the Arabs rejected any idea of Jewish sovereignty out of hand (like the much smaller Peel commission partition for Jews, which Jews accepted) and launched a war against the nascent Jewish state with the explicitly stated goal of exterminating the Jews there (less than 5 years after the Holocaust). Now Palestinians want to negotiate...We`ll think about it. |
