Gideon Levy,
If their sons were any kind of men they would stand up to their army`s and government`s denial. American soldiers did this and paid the price and they and our society were better served because of it.
People have to bear responsibility for their sins and their crime (s) and I am sure the woman Hester Prynne in the Scarlet letter had to endure much shame and solitude also -yet I cannot immagine anyone not sharing in her courage and her forebearence.
I read of occunts in other commentaries following -how the villagers respected and she became a heroine. (Quite the opposite of what I imagine, people expected at the time. )
So there is honor in the shame of accepting responsibility and I believe it become very important for any society as a result as It gives people back their dignity and their ability to demonstrate their society is just towards all. That`s a crucial message to convey to anyone. Dutch
