| Whenever Israel goes into its "we are the most moral army in the world" mode, you know it is because they have just done some great evil. It`s sort of a "self hypnosis" routine, and is an important part of Israeli society. Obviously, Gideon Levy does not fit in. In another time and place, men of conscience learned not to question the actions of the militaristic government. Bad things happened to those who did ask the wrong questions. Thankfully, Israel has not quite arrived at the point at which bad things happen to those who ask embarrasing questions. The IDF is certainly not the worlds most moral army, but Israel does have a paragon of morality and courage in Gideon Levy. |
