ca: "even in its darkest moments in 1973, israel did not use its nuclear weapons. this proves that it is a responsible player in this arena."

Actually, ca, "in its darkest moment in 1973" the Israelis were loading their nukes onto Phantom jets just as the news came of Sharon`s breakthrough against the Egyptian army.

And, indeed, the Israelis detected an American Blackbird spy plane over Dimona and tried mightily to shoot it down.

Actually, ca, it was the very news brought back by that spy plane that convinced Nixon that he had to gift the Israelis whatever weapons they wanted so that they WOULDN`T use those nukes.

Israel didn`t drop their nukes on the Egyptian?

No, indeed they did not.

But they were getting themselves ready to drop those nukes, and that is a rather irresponsible thing for anyone to contemplate.
