Title:Will Obama really stand up?

If anyone has the political capital to stand up to the Israel lobby and demand that Israel stop reneging on its promises to disband outposts and freeze settlement expansion, it is Obama. Should he choose to do so, "Professor Obama" could probably convince a majority of Americans that it is in our self interest to demand Israel start living up to its promises. If he`s going to do so, he`d better act quickly. AIPAC is lobbying congressmen to sign on to a letter demanding that Israel be allowed to negotiate with the Palestinians on its own timetable, a sure recipe for further procrastination and repression of the Palestinian populace, with the goal of forevfer forestalling a Palestinian state. The letter was drafted by house Leadership of both parties. A majority of Congress attended an AIPAC banquet at which, one by one, they stood up to express their solidarity with Israel. Only Obama can stand up to this blatent pandering to a foreign government against our own self-interest. Will he?
