| Ban is greatly disturbed by the bombing of the UN facilities and killing of civilians in Gaza. There are, however, many other things that do not phase Ban or the UN: Palestinian refugees have been tended by UNWRA even before Israel occupied Gaza in 1967 and no move was made to alleviate the situation. Other countries harbor Palestinian refugees in camps, refusing them jobs and citizenship. Civilians equal to hundreds the amount killed in Gaza are being killed daily in other places in the world. There are no UN reports or condemnations, only silence. Hamas continues to launch rockets at Israeli civilian targets, causing Israel to refuse to open the blockade that Ban objects to so vehemently. Big powers such as China and Russia are free to invade other countries at will. The UN says nothing. The UN has proved itself capable of ganging up on Israel, but totally bereft of any moral standards. Until it proves itself otherwise, why should Israel listen? |
