| First of all I am a Jew that was raised in Italy, I take issue with the statement that the catholic church "is and has always been driven by antisemitic motivations". I can still recall friends of my father, Jews who hid in Italian Alps villages during WWII, tell the story of catholic priests entering houses were Jews were known to be hiding and double the number of priests leaving a few minutes later, not to mention Monsignor Giuseppe Nicolini, the Bishop of Assisi, in south-central Italy, Father Also Brunacci and Father Ruffino Niccaci, catholic priests who ran the Assisi Underground, which saved hundreds of Jews during WWII, hardly the doings of a church driven by antisemitic motivations. As for people like Michael Ben Ari, he is nothing but a racist hate monger, people like him give the rest of us Jews a bad name. |
