| A few facts about Pollard: 1. No person ever caught spying for a friendly country has ever been given a sentence even 1/4 as long as Pollard received. 2. We now know that much of the evidence used against Pollard, supplied under the direction of then Sec`y of Defense Weinberger, was false. Weinberger, an ex-Jew, was known to harbor anti-Semitic feelings. 3. Not too long after Pollard`s conviction, a US Navy admiral was found passing secrets to the Saudis. He received a dishonorable discharge, but never faced criminal charges and never went to jail. 4. The data Pollard passed on to Israel, the US was bound by treaty to share with Israel. But the information was withheld. Pollard deserved punishment, but the punishment he has received far out-weighs the crime. |
